A weekend in Dublin with my book-club friends sparked a familiar conversation: how can a wardrobe be full of clothes, yet packing for a short trip still feel difficult? We realised we were all reaching for the same few things.
Sometimes what we need is a little help making sense of what we already own. That can apply to your wardrobe—and to your makeup bag.
What can a personal stylist help with?
Personal styling focuses on clothing: shapes, colours and combinations that work for your lifestyle. It can help you make better use of your existing wardrobe, put outfits together and shop with a clearer idea of what you need.
This article originally featured a local personal stylist who no longer offers that service, so the old recommendation and booking details have been removed.
Where does makeup fit in?
You might feel happy with your clothes but unsure about your makeup. Perhaps your colours no longer feel right, foundation is difficult to choose, or you keep buying products without knowing how to use them.
That’s where my work comes in. I’m a makeup artist and teacher based in Harrogate. In a personal makeup lesson, we focus on your skin, features, routine and the look you want to achieve.
Start with what you already have
Bring the makeup and brushes you use, if you have them. We’ll look at what works for you, practise techniques and simplify the parts that feel complicated. Product recommendations are personal to you, with no pressure to buy a whole new collection.
If your usual makeup no longer suits your changing skin or face, explore my mature makeup lessons. If you live further away, an online makeup consultation offers personal advice from home.
A gift of time and confidence
A lesson can also be a thoughtful gift for someone who would enjoy a little time for herself. My makeup lesson gift vouchers are personalised PDFs sent by email.
